ORANGE BEACH TO PENSICOLA FLORIDA

Nov 14- We left Orange Beach at 10:00 am as we only have 30 miles to go today. The wind is up and blowing right down the ICW. We are in Pensicola, Florida horray! The Palafox Marina is not that big and I think we got here just in the nick of time. The dock master said he had twelve boats come in this morning and three had not called in for reservations. I think we got the last slip.We started cleaning off the salt from Manana as soon as we tied up. We had a quiet evening and dinner aboard tonight. We plan to be here a few days as Dave is giving Bill on Mist a hand installing his new inverter.

The Mist (Bill and Bobbi)

A few homes along the way
Some condos
Were here!
A marina we passed
A sailboat abandoned
The shoreline along the way
This island is called Santa Rosa
Interesting lighthouse
We had to skirt restricted naval base
Coming into Palafox

Nov 15- We have decided to stay until Thursday as the weather is very unsettled at this time. Dave has decided to stay aboard and watch the Argo game today. Bill, Bobbi and I have decided to go to the Naval Museum and we will be taking a taxi. When we got to the base they asked for our identifications and Bobbi and I had not brought ours so we were turned away. We took the taxi back to a local grocery store and walked back from there to the boat. It had to be at least three miles sometimes through some questionable neighborhoods but was quite interesting.
A lot of lawyers housed in these homes
Some of the sights walking down toward the harbour
Shades of New Orleans in some of the buildings
A wedding taking place we happened upon
Thought this was so pretty

Nov 16- I must wish my wonderful sister Gail a very Happy Birthday today. Hope you have a great day - love you. We got up to an overcast day but somewhat warm. Bobbi and Bill have rented a car for a few days so we are all going to the Naval Museum today. The museum was very interesting but we got there late in the day so we were rushed to see a lot of it as it closed at 5 pm. The inverter to be installed in the Mist has not arrived yet so Dave and Bill are driving over to the depot here to retrieve it. We had dinner at a local restaurant and then called it a night.

Nov 17- We woke up to another overcast day. Dave is on his way over to the Mist to install the inverter. I am cleaning and doing laundry today trying to keep busy. Dave was there for most of the day but the inverter would not work. Dave suggested Bill should get an electrician to check out his power source coming into the boat. We had docktails aboard our boat that evening as the weather was not good outside. We had twelve of us up on the bridge that night and we met a few people we did not know. It was a sleepless night for me as the wind had the boat rocking constantly all night long.

Nov 18- It has been a dreadful day with high winds and torrential rain. It is so dark at one point you would think it was late evening but it was really mid morning. No one is out and about today - everyone is just staying put. The electrician did show up and replaced a switch and now the inverter is working. Around 5:00 pm Evelyn and Sid from Something Special came over to see if we wanted to play euchre. So after dinner we went to play cards for a couple of hours.
