SAVANNAH TO BEAUFORT

May 2- We left Savannah at 9:45 am this morning as we are only going 55 miles today headed for Beaufort, South Carolina. It is another sunny day as we head north but as we near Beaufort the skies are getting dark and it is starting to spit rain. We arrived at Beaufort Municipal Marina at 4:00 pm. We pulled along the dock where we were supposed to dock and as we were tying up the dock-master was telling me that we had to move our dingy right away or pay for extra length on the dock. We were trying to tie up in a pretty good current along the outside of their docks so after a little stern discussion we were able to leave the dingy where it was, at the back of boat. We walked Koby up to shore and the downtown is right there. Dave and I had dinner aboard and then walked up to meet up with Bill and Bobbi as they finished their dinner. When they finished we walked along the main street looking in the shop windows, unfortunately they were all closed up for the evening. We called it an early night as it was teaming down rain and was miserable. The dingy bumped against the swim grid for most of the night which made it very difficult to sleep, so I went and tried sleeping on the salon couch but the waves were lapping against the front of the boat, so it was the greater of two evils. I think I finally nodded off at 4:00 am this morning.

  1. Hope the weather clears and your trip north is exciting but trouble free. Enjoy.
